BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL GEAR REQUIREMENTSThe following items are required for participation in Maine-Endwell Little League.
- A ball glove.
- A baseball or softball bat approved by USA Baseball (there must be a 'USA Baseball' stamp visible). Be careful to distinguish from 'USSA' bats, which are used in travel competitions and are not allowed in Little League play.
- A batting helmet. Please note that full helmet cages are required for participation at the AAA and Majors levels. A 'half shield' or any other device that does not fully enclose the player's face in metal wire on all sides is not allowed. Helmet cages are recommended (but not expressly required) at the AA and T-Ball levels. If you have any questions about the helmet cage requirement, please contact us in advance of the season, as players without them will not be able to bat.
- [Softball only] An infield face shield is required at the pitcher, first base, and third base positions.
- Appropriate footwear. Cleats are recommended.
